Canine Crawl - King & Queen Competition

It's almost time for the Canine Crawl!!
Are your dogs ready for the King and Queen Competition??

Ever walk into a room and find your best friend curled up on their favorite forbidden spot – the couch, acting like it's their throne? Well now, it really can be!

Canine Crawl King and Queen is a distinguished honor for your prettiest pooch to win. This judged event will score rescued dogs on poise, personality, and performance.

What will the judges look for?

Poise: Dog and owner will walk across stage so judges can score on poise.

An elegant walk and pleasant physique will earn you high points. Leashes should demonstrate a soft flow, and not be strained by pulling. Just looking at your dog should not only bring a smile to everyone’s face, but also send them into a state of “aww.”

Personality: Owners will talk about their dog, sharing stories about what makes each tail-wag unique.

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina understands how special rescued dogs can be, and the judges will want to hear the story of how your pup found their fur-ever home. Include any special behaviors or traits that make your dog stand out from the rest!

Performance: Dogs will show off their talents.

Barking on command, rolling over, dancing, jumping through hoops, teaching an old dog new tricks, whatever your pup’s talent is the judges want to see it!!!

At the end of the competition there will be on King and one Queen crowned. These dogs will carry the title for an entire year and will be featured in HSEC’s quarterly newsletter, as well as on HSEC’s website and blog.

Is your dog the best hound in town? Find out by entering Canine Crawl King and Queen. There is an $8 entry fee per dog. For more information about this contest please contact our Event Chair, Mindi Crippen.

And don't forget, there's plenty of fun to be had at Canine Crawl no matter who you are!  Been wanting a cute picture of you and your furry friend?  Our very own board member, Jason Cottle will be doing animal caricatures!  Looking to find some local organizations that love animals just as much as you do?  We'll have tons of vendors on site to answer questions about the goods and services they provide!  Been thinking about our recent post on microchipping?  You're in luck!  Dr. Anne Eldridge DVM from Firetower Animal Clinic has donated her servies for the afternoon to microchip dogs in the community!  For just $30 you get a microchip, professional vet services for implantation, and we'll even register the chip for you!
